DSM Engineering Plastics Introduces a Variety of Halogen Free Polymers

According to Sittard, the Netherlands, DSM has always been a leader in the Chemical Industry section of the Dow Jones index. Within DSM's functional materials, DSM Engineering Plastics has activated "green box" engineering plastics for halogen-free applications. The development of halogen-free engineering plastics meets the needs of customers and is consistent with DSM's sustainable development policies. Since then, DSM has stated that the company will use energy and raw materials more efficiently to reduce the impact on the environment and improve the efficiency of the product environment.

Stanyl® Stanyl HB grade (PA46) products are used by a number of leading electronic OEMs in a variety of different internal and external connector applications.

If you still require V2 or V0, DSM Engineering Plastics has developed a completely halogen-free Stanyl product, which is a high-performance polyamide and meets the highest level of flame retardancy, such as UL94 V-0 level, and has received many customers' Accredited.

Arnitel® TPE

In the electronics industry, the use of halogen-free products to replace PVC to produce cables and wires has long been a goal. However, until very recently, a very wide range of alternatives began to be implemented. Other electronic systems such as white goods and energy distribution switches currently require halogen-free flame retardants. Arnitel XG products will provide manufacturers with the perfect solution.

Arnite®XG

Household appliance manufacturers need a connector material that meets IEC 60335-1 requirements. The standard describes the requirements for automatic household appliances such as washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, etc. The operation of these household appliances requires the use of large currents (>0,2A). The requirements included a Glow Wire Combustion Index Test at 850°C (IEC 60695-2-12) and a Glow Wire Test at 750°C (IEC 60695-2-11 GWT) for the end product. At 750°C, the Glow Wire Test (GWT) of the combination kit should be extinguished for less than 2 seconds. It is extremely difficult for materials on the market today to meet these requirements.

Halogen-free Arnite® XG is revolutionary compared to other solutions, as it is the unfilled PBT with good GWT test results for the first end product. Arnite® XG has less environmental impact because of its halogen-free flame retardant. Arnite XG achieves UL94 V-2 rating.

Akulon® distribution switchgear, such as miniature circuit breakers and molded case circuit breakers, are also following similar halogen-free material trends. DSM's Akulon nylon 6 has been the traditional choice for all global and local manufacturers of low-voltage electrical equipment. Akulon brought halogen-free flame retardant materials to market more than five years ago. This product portfolio is relatively large and has passed UL registration for a variety of halogen-free and environmentally-friendly solutions. ”

Xantar® Flame Retardant Xantar Polycarbonate and Xantar C PC/ABS grades can meet UL94 V-0 rating and 960°C GWFI (Glowwire Firing Index) without using any halogen-containing flame retardant.
