Abbott Laboratories (ABT) has recalled two bottles of contact lens solutions on some European and Middle Eastern markets. Poor quality plastic bottle caps may cause the product to infect bacteria. Abbott said that there are currently no reports of accidents, diseases or injuries due to bottle cap problems.
The British pharmaceutical and health products regulatory agency mentioned the recall in its warning issued on Friday and warned consumers that they should not use the product that should be recalled. This product recall was mainly attributed to the possibility of leakage of the solution bottle cap, not because of the problem with the solution itself.
Abbott spokesperson Kelly Morrison said on Monday that the recall involved only a small portion of care solution and a few countries. The name of the recalled product is a fully functional care solution and Total Care (1) contact lens solution.
