Thirty-one large enterprises such as Zhongbai Warehousing, Wal-Mart, and Carrefour issued an initiative to large and medium-sized supermarkets (warehouses, convenience stores), shopping malls, and production suppliers in the city, stating that they must resolutely stop and oppose over-packaging of goods and effectively reduce the burden on consumers.

Some products are over-packed seriously

In recent years, the “over-packaging” of some commodities has become increasingly serious. The main manifestations are excessive virtual bubbles in the packaging of goods, over-excessive use of materials, luxury in decoration, and excessive packaging costs. Excessive packaging has increased the burden on consumers, wasted resources and energy, and seriously polluted the environment. On August 13, the State Council issued the "Emergency Notice" on maintaining price stability. The State Council emphasized that "we must resolutely stop luxury packaging for all kinds of commodities, reduce costs, eliminate waste, and reduce consumers' burdens.

The reporter learned that Wuhan produces more than 5,000 tons of domestic waste annually, of which 20% are various types of packaging. The paper, rubber, glass, and steel used are all important materials in industrial production and life. A considerable portion of plastic or paper with a plastic layer, because it cannot be degraded, seriously threatens the environment of the soil and lakes. At the same time, overpacking welcomes and stimulates some misgivings in the society. Some manufacturers have fixed on the needs of a small number of people and deliberately added new leaves to the packaging, which has contributed to this unhealthy trend, especially during holidays.

31 large-scale commercial enterprises advocate strict control

Yesterday, 31 large-scale commercial enterprises in Wuhan City collectively stated that they consciously abide by all laws, regulations, and professional ethics of the country, and do not use excessively packaged goods whose sales prices are inconsistent or tying other goods, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.

The production of overpacked goods is reflected in the circulation field and the source is in the production link. Wu Yumei said that all units started from the source, purifying the purchase channels, and strictly controlling the “entry clearance” and “sales clearance” of over-packaged goods. The content of over-packaging of goods should be included in the terms of the supply contract. The goods produced by the supplier should meet the requirements for suitable packaging materials, proper protection functions, appropriate volumetric capacity, and reasonable packaging costs. Manufacturers join hands to ensure that over-packaged goods manufacturers do not produce, businesses do not enter, and counters do not sell.

At the same time, the company strictly inspects business activities, strengthens industry self-discipline, resolutely resists excessive packaging of goods, and earnestly safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of consumers. The total cost of all packages except moon cakes, red wine, tea, health foods and other products should not exceed 15% of the commodity price.
