According to Nature Works Co., Ltd., several companies led by Taiwan Weimeng Industry Co., Ltd. have recently cooperated to launch environmentally friendly polylactic acid (PLA) laminating films. This is the first time in the laminating process of the slurry and plastic packaging products that biomass-based renewable products have been used to replace petroleum-based products.
The biomass polymer derived from corn starch used in the coating is a polylactic acid produced by Nature Works, which allows the bio-degradation of the plastic packaging product under natural compost conditions. Weimeng Industrial Co., Ltd., Champion Paper Products Co., Ltd., Weiyi Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., Taiwan Environmental Protection (HPP) Co., Ltd. and Japan's Donghe Chemical Co., Ltd. jointly developed this technology. This is the first time the technology has been promoted and applied in Taiwan.
Traditional pulp packaging products are petroleum-based coated plastic packaging products that can only be disposed of in landfills. Through the application of Nature Works polylactic acid in the packaging of plastic and plastic products, the environmental protection of disposable plastic products can be improved, composted and degraded, and can be recycled and reused.
