In order to adapt to the development and needs of society, college English teaching in universities has been reformed in response to the requirements of the Ministry of Education. In the current process of college English teaching reform, universities have given considerable attention to strengthening the construction of computer rooms. In accordance with the teaching reform model of college English computer and classroom self-learning, taking our school as an example, according to the actual needs of teaching, we have established 6 computer rooms of different sizes and about 500 computers, which are dedicated to the autonomous learning of English for all students. With the continuous deepening of college English teaching reform and the continuous standardization of practice links, the status and role of self-learning computer rooms in college teaching are becoming more and more important. The content of computer room management is very extensive, the affairs are complicated, and the workload is large. It includes hardware, software, security management and other aspects [1]. How to do the management work of the computer room for self-learning, and provide a good environment for college English teaching To explore.
1 Computer room software and hardware management and maintenance
Computer hardware and software is the main support of the computer room. The status of software and hardware should be continuously adjusted according to the development of computer technology, network technology and multimedia technology, and changes in social needs in order to meet the needs of students [2].
1.1 Hardware configuration of computer room
The computer room is dedicated to the independent study of college English. The hardware configuration of the computer is different from the general PC. The basic configuration requires a sound card, network card, headphones, microphone, internal memory of more than 516 MB, hard disk space of more than 40 GB, 700 CPU above MHz, CD-ROM drive, hard disk protection card, high-resolution display, etc. At the same time, because the self-learning of college English uses the online version of the teaching software, each computer room is also equipped with network cables, switches, etc. to form a local area network. It is indispensable to install a hard disk protection card in the computer. At present, due to different computer models, the protection cards installed in each computer room are different, such as the small sentry, Blu-ray blue card, and Founder hard disk protection card. Protection cards generally have the following advantages:
(1) It can effectively protect the system and reduce the invasion of viruses. The administrator does not have to worry about the system and application files being damaged, nor the changes of CMOS settings. After restarting the computer, the system will return to the initial state.
(2) A multi-task start system can be set for users to choose. This is more independent, reliable and practical than the multiple settings of the Config file.
(3) Conducive to the management of the computer room. No matter the operation is stopped on the interface of any application file in the system, in the event of a sudden power failure, due to the effect of CMOS, when it is restarted, there will be no "Scandisk" detection process due to abnormal shutdown.
(4) Convenient management of hard disk. You can use the data update function of the protection card to save new data changes, and you can also use the hard disk protection card to automatically assign IP, restart, and shut down the computer. After the computer room administrator selects the "AUTOIP" (automatically assigns an IP address) function, this sequence can be set by itself. After the login is completed, press the control key to collect the network card ID, and then enter the system to edit the AUTOIP program, the computer IP address will be assigned in strict accordance with the set order. As long as the computer room administrator selects the "restart" or "shutdown" function on the server, it can remotely restart or shut down all computers in the computer room without turning on the power of the computers one by one for maintenance [3].
1.2 Software installation in the computer room
The computers in the computer room are generally the same model and the protection card model is the same, so as long as the required software is installed on one computer (parent machine), other computers can directly copy the copy function using the network and the protection card. Before installing the software on the parent computer, first partition the hard disk of the parent computer. Although there are no strict restrictions on the hard disk partition and its capacity, the hard disk should be divided into at least three areas according to the actual situation [4]. The first partition is used to install the operating system and learning software, the second partition is used to back up and install the software, and the third partition is reserved for students. According to the amount of college English learning software, the first partition has a capacity of about 20 GB, ensuring that at least 5 GB of space is reserved after the software is installed, the second partition needs to have a capacity of about 10 GB, and the remaining capacity is used as the third partition.
A computer room dedicated to self-study of college English. The software installed is generally English learning software. Our school uses the "visual listening and speaking" online teaching software of "New Age Interactive English" published by Tsinghua University Press. The learning software can be run under operating systems such as Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003, and must be installed with a browser of Microsoft IE6.0 or above. The software installation is all automated. The user has always selected the default option to complete Software installation. The following describes the detailed installation steps of the software.
Before installing this software, log in to the computer as a system administrator (usually an Administrator user). The installation is divided into two major parts: (1) install Media Player 9; (2) install learning software. The operating environment of each level of software is the same, just install it once. "New Age Interactive English" learning software needs to be supported by Microsoft Media Player 9 player software. If Media Player 9 has not been installed, after opening the software installation disk, click the "Microsoft Media Player 9 installation package" with the left mouse button, the installation program automatically detects whether the current operating system has installed Media Player 9 playback software, if it is detected, The system gives a "detect that Microsoft Media Player 9 has been installed" prompt window; if it is not installed, the program will automatically install Media Player 9. Then directly install the corresponding level of learning software.
When using the online version of the learning software to learn, you must ensure that the learning software can be connected to the server installed with the "New Age Interactive English" network-assisted teaching management platform through the network. The network that our school is connected to is the campus network. You can use the online learning software in any place where you can access the Internet. The IP address of our school's learning software connected to the network-assisted teaching management platform is 202.192.143.134. The user name for logging in to the learning software is the student's student ID, and the initial password is the same as the student's student ID.
After confirming that the network connection is normal, when starting the online version of the learning software for the first time, the system will prompt that it cannot connect to the server (as shown in Figure 1). After clicking the "OK" button with the left mouse button, the system appears as shown in Figure 2. The IP address input box shown requires you to enter the IP address of the server. Enter the IP address of the server of the school's network-aided instruction management platform correctly and select "OK". If you can access the server, the system will enter the login interface normally. If you cannot access the server, the system will still repeat the above prompts until you enter the correct IP Address. Then you can enter the user name and password to log in to the learning software and start learning. You do not need to enter the IP address when you start the learning software again. If the learning software and the server-side network connection are abnormal due to some unknown factors during the learning process, the system will also give the same prompt.
1.3 Management and maintenance of hardware and software
Computer room hardware management and maintenance is a very complicated and heavy work [5]. The main contents are: frequently check the status of the relevant hardware equipment, make timely adjustments or replace damaged hardware, such as poor contact with memory modules or recovery cards, etc .; regularly clean the relevant equipment or components, and replace consumables such as motherboard batteries on time.
Software problems are generally operating systems and commonly used software. For the installation and maintenance of the operating system and common software, the following technical measures must be adopted to maintain the normal operation of the system: (1) protect the system and data, implement partition management of the hard disk, install a hard disk protection card; (2) install software and hardware firewalls and antivirus software , Update the system vulnerability patch in time; (3) Use the copy function of the network restore card to reinstall, which is more effective and convenient for the maintenance of individual machines in the LAN computer room, which can greatly reduce the work intensity of the management personnel of the computer room.
2 Self-learning safety issues in the computer room
The large number of equipment in the computer room, the high utilization rate, and the large number of experimenters put forward higher requirements for the safety management of the computer room. Safety is a big problem in the computer room, and it is also the focus of computer room management [6]. Each computer room is equipped with a monitoring system, and a designated person in the laboratory is responsible for it, and corresponding management regulations have been formulated to promptly discover hidden safety hazards and ensure the personal safety of school property and teachers and students.
2.1 Electricity safety
Due to the large number of equipment in the equipment room and the concentrated placement, the wiring in the equipment room is complicated. Every two computers share a plug-in board. Any error may cause damage to the equipment and even fire. The management personnel of the equipment room should regularly check the lines to eliminate hidden dangers as soon as possible. When leaving the equipment room, the main power supply must be turned off to ensure the safety of power consumption.
2.2 Anti-theft device
After work, be sure to close doors and windows to prevent loss of equipment. Add a keyboard and mouse lock to the case to prevent individual students from disassembling and carrying it privately. There are a lot of power cords and network cables in the computer room. If they are bitten by a mouse, it will cause great losses and even cause a fire. Arrange students to do the cleaning work every day to prevent some students from bringing food into the computer room and attract mice, while keeping the equipment clean and hygienic to prevent the occurrence of short circuits caused by dust.
2.3 Strict implementation of safety management regulations
(1) The laboratory is a place for teaching and scientific research. Laboratory staff must strictly abide by the safety system in their work and strictly implement the equipment operation regulations to prevent various accidents.
(2) Students should make full use of network resources to learn English in the autonomous learning center, and cannot carry out any activities not related to this, otherwise the administrator or teacher has the responsibility to stop it.
(3) Strengthen the safety management of electricity consumption, prohibit excessive electricity consumption, and regularly check the electricity equipment facilities.
(4) The laboratory is equipped with certain fire fighting equipment and anti-theft devices according to the actual situation.
(5) Smoking and eating in the laboratory are strictly prohibited.
(6) Establish a regular cleaning system. It is strictly forbidden to deposit debris in the laboratory to keep it clean and tidy indoors and outdoors.
(7) The management of the laboratory key is controlled by a special administrator, and it is not prepared or used by Others without permission.
(8) Regularly and systematically conduct safety technology education for experimental personnel, regularly organize safety work inspection and evaluation, and make clear awards and penalties to ensure personal safety and national property from loss.
(9) After the laboratory is used, water, electricity, doors and windows must be closed.
3 Conclusion
The management and maintenance of the self-learning computer room established in conformity with the reform of college English teaching is a very professional work. It needs to accumulate experience for a long time, continue to explore, learn new knowledge, and be good at summing up. Judging from the achievements of college English teaching since the reform of our school, the management and maintenance of the computer room is successful, and it is an advantageous weapon to promote the reform of college English teaching.
