Japan Develops Water Repellent Building Exterior Wall Coatings

In August 2003, the University of Tokyo cooperated with the New Japan Air Conditioning Company and other units to apply special coatings with water retentive properties and applied them to the exterior walls and windows of buildings to develop coating technologies that allow buildings to achieve cooling effects. This is based on the principle that watering can cool off with the heat of vaporization. The coating contains a certain amount of titanium dioxide, and its effect can spread trace amounts of water on the wall evenly and thinly. In this way, with a small amount of water, the cooling effect of the building can be achieved.
