Digital offset press supplier Presstek's second-quarter profit rose steadily

Presstek, the world's leading provider of digital offset solutions, announced its second-quarter earnings report as of July 3, 2010. The results showed that the company's profit before interest, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was $300,000. Compared with the situation of a loss of 2 million in the same period last year, there has been a significant improvement.

In May 2010, the company exhibited a new 75DI digital offset press at IPEX and caused a strong response. The device has a plate change time of only 6 minutes and offers customers a high quality, large format output solution.

Presstek's total revenue for the second quarter of this year was $31.6 million, a decrease of 6% from the same period last year; operating loss was $1.8 million, a decrease of $21 million from $22.7 million in the same period last year.

Press Jacob Chairman, President and Executive Officer Jeff Jacobson said: "In the past three quarters, our profit before tax depreciation and amortization has improved significantly, and we have seen the growth of consumables such as CTP and DI plates, although SMEs in North America are reluctant to invest in fixed assets because they are unable to obtain loans or are skeptical about the prospects for a recovery in the US economy, but our performance is still satisfactory."
