In fact, before 2010, BD's parent company was called Clarus. At that time, it was changed to Black Diamond Inc. in order to seize the opportunity of outdoor market development. Now it is time to go back. The company said that it is to better reflect the company's current diversified development strategy.
In the past few years, BD Corporation has been doing a subtraction on brand equity. In 2014, it sold backpack brand Gregory to Samsonite for US$84 million; in October 2015, it also used its US$65 million to organize its Swedish ski and cycling accessories brand POC. Investcorp, the global alternative investment group, was closed at the same time as closing production plants and logistics centers in China. In 2016, most of their climbing equipment production was moved back to Base Camp Salt Lake City. At present, the company only has two main brands: Black Diamond Equipment, Ltd. and PIEPS GmbH. They also want to purchase high-quality assets, but have a high-quality, cash-generating asset that is not associated with the outdoor equipment industry to diversify their business.
Because of the change of name, BD’s stock code also changed from “BDE†on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange to “CLARâ€, and the trading of new stock codes began on August 14, 2017. In addition, since August 14, 2017, the company's website address will be enabled.
