Guanghan City, Sichuan Province to carry out the conversion of pesticide packaging

The Beijing Olympic Games is about to open. When the people of the whole country celebrate and share a grand event, the Plant Protection Station of the Agricultural Bureau of Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, is taking practical actions to welcome the Olympic Games. While the Guanghan people watch a wonderful sports competition, they also feel the blue sky, the green air, and the air. The good mood is the exchange of pesticides and empty packaging.
In order to smoothly carry out the exchange of pesticide waste empty packaging, we carried out adequate publicity and training. Huang Wei, an expert from the Plant Protection (China) Association, conducted 12 special trainings in safety scientific use of pesticide knowledge and technology in townships such as Xinglong and Hexing, and trained more than 1,100 people in townships, villages, social cadres, and farmers; More than 10,000 publicity posters have been posted at township and village offices, market towns, and bazaars, and more than 5,500 technical flyers have been distributed. The theme of “caring for health, protecting the environment, and controlling the pollution of pesticide waste packaging” has been widely publicized.
From July 21 to July 31, two exchange activities were carried out in two townships, Xinglong and Hexing, and 458 households were converted, 53,964 were empty, and protective clothing, face masks, gloves, and new small-package pesticides were exchanged. The value of goods is more than 6000 yuan. This activity began in July 2008 and continued until July 2009. It was exchanged at fixed times on the 1st and 30th of each month.
The exchange activities were carried out to realize turning waste into treasure. Farmers collected and exchanged empty packaging discarded at the edge of the trenches in the fields and converted them into supplies. The farmers were provided with substantial benefits. The frightening scenes of heavy pesticide pollution in rural areas over the years disappeared. The environment has become neat and beautiful. More importantly, the farmers have gradually changed the bad behavior of discarding empty packages of pesticides at random, and they have developed a good habit of collecting and processing empty packages. The rural areas will no longer be harmed by empty packages. Farmers participating in the exchange activities are sincerely sighing. This is truly a benefit-minded activity and a political project.
