Probably the world's first sunscreen containing chemical sunscreens: DorothyGray's SunburnCream developed by E.Klarman for Lehn & Fink, the company that produces the famous sterilised water. The chemical sunscreens contained therein are mainly benzylsalicylate and benzylcinnamate.
1935
L'Oréal's Garnier Research Center invented the sensational sunscreen product Ambre Solaire, which has been used in France since the beginning of the holiday and sun bath in Europe. The US forces involved in World War II began using a sunscreen-resistant Vaseline, Redveterinary petrolatum, to prevent sunburn from participating in the tropical areas of the Pacific battlefield.
