Completely subvert the laser direct engraving of the traditional gravure platemaking process

Recently, Cellaxy, the world's most advanced laser direct engraving gravure platemaking system developed by German company HELL, was publicly demonstrated. At 4 Packaging, more than 200 visitors witnessed the process of laser engraving of this equipment on a copper gravure cylinder.

Laser Direct Engraving The core of the gravure platemaking system is the Cellaxy output device. The laser used by Cellaxy is a high-power laser with an output power of up to several watts. The processing resolution can reach 2540 dpi (1000 l/cm) and can be directly etched on the copper surface. The operation of the laser head is continuous and it is controlled by a 3-dimensional RIP. This processing principle is somewhat similar to that of offset printing. Each pit consists of a matrix of 16 x 16 laser dots. Unlike offset CTP platemaking, the laser intensity of a direct laser engraving of a gravure laser is adjustable, and therefore, the depth of each individual laser spot, as well as the pit depth, is also adjustable. This makes it possible to adjust the screen resolution, dot shape, depth, and angle of the pit wall, etc., during the engraving process. In the future, this feature will also allow companies to produce special gravure plates according to specific printing conditions. With engraving accuracy of 2540dpi, Cellaxy can adapt to very high printing requirements. This makes Cellaxy has a broad application prospects in the field of cigarette packets, labels and drug packages.
